– Routine Maintenance Checklist –
Please note that this checklist is comprised of general suggestions only. Always refer to your respective system's operations manual for more complete maintenance recommendations as specified by the system's manufacturer. If you have any questions or concerns, make the appropriate inquiries.
Daily / Weekly
- Check system pressure gauges (feed, concentrate, permeate).
- Inspect for leaks in piping, fittings and filter housings.
- Verify permeate flow rate and reject flow rate are within design limits.
- Confirm water quality (TDS / conductivity of permeate).
- Ensure chemical dosing (anti-scalant, chlorine removal, pH adjustment, etc.) is functioning properly.
- Drain pre-filter housings of trapped air.
Monthly
- Replace or clean pre-filters (cartridge/sediment).
- Inspect pump oil level (if applicable) and look for vibration/noise.
- Check flow restrictors and flush valves for clogging.
- Test and calibrate instruments (conductivity / TDS meters, pressure gauges).
- Inspect electrical panels, wiring, and control relays for heat/corrosion.
Quarterly
- Perform a full system flush to reduce fouling.
- Clean or replace carbon filters (if used for chlorine removal).
- Inspect membranes for scaling, fouling, or chemical damage (test salt rejection).
- Review operating logs and compare performance trends (flow, rejection, pressure drop).
Every 6-12 Months
- Replace pre-filters and carbon filters (if not already done).
- Chemically clean membranes if pressure drop increases or rejection decreases.
- Service high-pressure pump (oil change, seal inspection).
- Inspect pressure vessels, O-rings, and end caps.
- Check and replace UV bulbs (if system has UV sterilizer).
As Needed
- Replace membranes (typically 2-5 years depending on feedwater and usage).
- Replace or service dosing pumps.
- Repair leaks or replace worn gaskets/seals.
- Recalibrate control system sensors.
